Description
Uzbek Ikat fabric
For a long time, Uzbek artisans have hand-woven various fabrics. One of the ways to decorate fabrics, as well as undoubtedly a way to attract buyers, an opportunity to stand out among similar knitters, was the dyeing of fabrics using the IKAT technique.
The ikat technique involves the partial dyeing of the threads before weaving, then a pattern is formed from the woven threads.
The execution of this technique requires the skill of both the master yarn dyer and the weaver.
The ikat technique is known among different peoples, in different parts of our great planet, for example, in Indonesia, among the inhabitants of Africa, in the Middle East, in particular in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
